Ukrainian tennis player had the toughest match

Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina (No. 26 WTA) had a difficult victory in the second round of the US Open tennis tournament with a prize fund of 65 million dollars. The 28-year-old Odesa native defeated Russia's Anna Pavlyuchenkova (No. 98 WTA) 5:7, 6:4, 6:4 in the 1/32 final of the US Open.

The game was extremely tense for the best tennis player in Ukraine. Both tennis players confidently took their serves until the score was 5:5. The Ukrainian then had three breakpoints, but could not realize any of them and then lost her serve and the set.

A similar situation developed in the second game, but the tennis players managed to make a break each before 3:3. At 4:3 Pavlyuchenkova lost her serve, which was the key moment.

The beginning of the third set was led by our compatriot. Svitolina simply demolished the Russian player with powerful serves. Elina's attack stalled at 4:0.  She made unforced errors and the 12th rocket was able to reduce the gap to a minimum. But there was no breakthrough.

Svitolina started at the US Open for the tenth time in her career. The best result for the Ukrainian was the semifinals of 2019.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Svitolina (No. 26 WTA) defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam (No. 90 WTA) from Germany with the score of 6:3, 6:1 in the first round.
