Shevchenko can lead Bosnia

World football legend Andriy Shevchenko may be appointed as the new head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, captained by his great admirer Edin Dzeko. The Balkans sacked Faruk Hadzibegic after the team had a poor start to the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.

After a remarkable 3-0 victory over Iceland, the Bosnians then lost three matches in a row, including to the group outsiders Luxembourg. This was the reason for Hadžibegić's resignation. According to journalist Lorenzo Lepore, the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has entered into negotiations with Shevchenko, as the media representative wrote on his Twitter page. The parties are discussing the terms of possible cooperation.

The 46-year-old Shevchenko's last job was with Italian side Genoa, from which he was dismissed in January 2022, two months after his appointment. The legend of Dynamo Kyiv and AC Milan also coached the Ukrainian national team, which he managed to lead to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

It should be noted that Shevchenko is also among the candidates for the post of president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Bosnia and Herzegovina captain Edin Dzeko travelled with Turkish side Fenerbahce to Russia for a friendly match against Zenit.
