Andreeva will represent France

Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva no longer intends to represent her native country in international competitions. The 16-year-old native of Krasnoyarsk is now working on becoming a citizen of France, where she has been training and living since last year.

Tennis World USA published the relevant information. According to his data, the young tennis player, who recently marked a demarche at the British Open Wimbledon-2023, is collecting the necessary documents.

It is specified that in order to obtain French citizenship it is necessary to live in the country for five years, as well as to pass a language proficiency exam. This was done last year by 22-year-old Muscovite Varvara Gracheva, who already represents France at tournaments.

It should be noted that Andreeva paid the largest penalty at Wimbledon-2023 for her antics in her fourth-round match against American Madison Keys. The day before, it became known that legendary Russian champion Yelena Isinbayeva had moved to Spain.

On July 11, Ukraine's Elina Svitolina reached the semifinals of Wimbledon-2023, beating world number one Iga Schwentek of Poland. The Ukrainian tennis player's success triggered hysteria in Russia. Later, Lyudmila Kichenok made it to the final of the tournament in mixed doubles.

Elina Svitolina

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the organizers of Wimbledon-2023 dismissed the call of Elina Svitolina to make an official statement about the attitude of Ukrainian women to the Russian and Belarusian players.
