"Primitive people. Mentally abnormal": the IIHF vice-champion told what he thinks of Russians
Hockey Hall of Famer Vaclav Nedomansky gave a comprehensive description of Russian society and the citizens of the aggressor country. The 1972 Olympic Games vice-champion and Czechoslovakia national team legend noted that Russia is home to a "primitive people" who have always been so.
Nedomansky said this in an interview with the Idnes.cz portal. The former striker, who emigrated to Canada 50 years ago, recalled that during his playing career he had repeatedly visited Moscow to participate in tournaments, and therefore had long formed his opinion about the country that has now unleashed a criminal war against Ukraine.
"Sometimes we had to go to Russia to play. What I saw there was more than enough to form an opinion. Terrible conditions, poverty, disorder, dirt everywhere... With the exception of some brilliant individuals, such as writers or composers, I think they are a primitive people. This has always been the case in history, and after 1918 it became especially true. The system killed millions of its people, and disrespect for life there is still a common reality. When I played against the Russians, not many of them were mentally normal," Nedomansky said.
Earlier, his compatriot Dominik Hasek harshly criticized the signatories of the Budapest Memorandum for demanding that Ukraine make concessions to Russia and Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
As OBOZ.UA reported, during a trip to Kyiv and Kharkiv in the summer of 2023, Dominik Hasek recorded a video message to Ukrainians, wishing them to "drive away Russian sh*t." In addition, Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum over the Czech's remarks.
Earlier, Dominic said that Russians have no right to compete in international tournaments "until they leave Ukraine and put Putin on trial." He also demanded that Russia pay reparations to our country.
