"People are dying": Russia complains that UEFA "does not punish Israel and Ukraine"

Koloskov upset about sanctions

Vyacheslav Koloskov, Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), has called the suspension of teams from Russia from international competitions unfair. Commenting on the exclusion of the aggressor country's representatives from the new Nations League draw, the official also complained that clubs and national teams from Ukraine and Israel continue to play in various tournaments.

Koloskov said this in a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The former head of the Russian Football Federation accused the European Football Union (UEFA) of allegedly pursuing a policy of double standards and bias against Russia, forgetting that Ukrainians and Israelis were victims of military aggression.

"We won't play official matches, but we will play friendly matches. Obviously, there are double standards - not only we have military operations, but also other admitted teams, people are dying, the approach should be the same. In this situation, we are being punished, but Israel and Ukraine are not," Koloskov said.

Earlier, Russian Football Federation Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov demanded that Israeli teams be excluded from international tournaments and received a harsh response from fans. And the State Duma called UEFA's decision not to include Russians in the 2024/2025 Nations League cannibalistic.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, former president of Lokomotiv Moscow and Torpedo Moscow Ilya Gerkus demanded that the teams from Israel be suspended "until the end of hostilities."
