Milevsky congratulated everyone "on a normal Christmas, not this f**king 24th"
Former Dynamo Kyiv forward Artem Milevsky found himself at the center of a scandal after his words about Christmas on December 25. In a closed chat on Telegram, the 39-year-old former Ukrainian national team player said that he did not perceive this date as real.
"Brothers, Merry normal Christmas to everyone! The one I was born on, not this f***ing 24th, f***ing, not clear what," tribuna.com quoted Milevsky as saying.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on July 27, 2023, the Local Council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) finally approved the transition to the New Julian calendar from the new church year - September 1, 2023.
Since then, the calendar reform of the OCU has officially come into force in our country, according to which believers will celebrate important church dates earlier. At the same time, the dates of some public holidays have also changed.
It should be noted that on January 7, well-known Ukrainian boxers Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk also congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas. The athletes actively support the UOC-MP and continue to celebrate the holiday in the old style, not on December 25.
Recently, Lomachenko has been known to attack the head of the OCU, Epifaniy, throwing a real tantrum over an interview with the head of the Ukrainian church, and being marked by a barrage of Kremlin narratives.
It is also worth noting that on December 25 last year, Lomachenko refused to congratulate Ukrainians on a "wrong Christmas."
