The court ruled in absentia

Viktor Maigourov's diploma as head of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) has been declared invalid. The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg issued the decision in absentia, triggering a major scandal.

In 2001, Maigourov graduated from the Ural Institute of Commerce and Law with a degree in law. Later, the prosecutor's office conducted an inspection, which revealed violations of federal law.

The head of the RBU himself refused to comment. Well-known journalist Dmitry Guberniev called the situation a 'circus'.

"The situation with Maigourov needs to be taken very seriously. Otherwise, the RBU will turn into a tent, and I would not like this," Match TV quoted Guberniev as saying.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Guberniev expressed confidence that the aggressor country's national team would miss the upcoming Olympic Games, both summer and winter.
