Italian club expels former Ukrainian national team player, terminates his contract early

Former Ukrainian national team midfielder Viktor Kovalenko has lost his club. The Italian Atalanta announced on its website that the contract with the 28-year-old footballer, which was supposed to last until the summer of 2025, was terminated ahead of schedule.
Kovalenko joined the Bergamo team from Shakhtar in the winter of 2021 for 700 thousand euros. He managed to play only one game, after which he went on loan to Spezia. There, in 44 matches , the Ukrainian footballer scored one goal and made 5 assists.
Since August 25, 2023, Victor has played for Empoli on loan, making a total of 17 appearances, scoring 2 goals and one assist.
On November 12, Kovalenko scored a magnificent winning goal for Empoli. The former Ukraine midfielder scored in the match of the 12th round of Serie A against Napoli (0: 1).
