Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Luis Hernandez (3-0) scored a fantastic victory at Titan FC 83 in Florida. The 26-year-old American's left leg crashed into the head of Brian Topp (1-5) just a second after the fight started.
Topp instantly lost consciousness, and Hernandez managed to land another punch before the referee had time to stop the fight.
Many commentators were unhappy with this quick victory, accusing Hernandez of cheating. The video shows that Luis distracted Bryan by stretching out his hand in a clear sign that he wanted to touch gloves in a greeting common among fighters.
This knockout officially broke the UFC record set in 2019 by Jorge Masvidal against Ben Askren by five seconds.
Despite the fact that many fans on social media were outraged, claiming that this was unsportsmanlike behaviour, Hernandez did not break any rules.
"All the guys in the comments talking about fake glove touches have never seen Luis Hernandez fight before. The guy starts every fight with the same punch, so be prepared," The Sun quoted one of the experts as saying.
