Everton's Ukrainian defender Vitaliy Mykolenko believes that in England, footballers are not criticised for failures as much as in Ukraine. According to the 24-year-old, people abroad are much more loyal to athletes' failures.

"You know how it is here, if you play a bad game for Dynamo or the national team, you get a hundred bad messages in your direct mail. I haven't noticed this in England," Mykolenko said in an interview with Sportarena.

Vitaliy admitted that he hasn't been watching the Ukrainian football media lately because a lot of things are taken out of context.

"They wrote comments about Mykolenko, Mudryk or Zinchenko after the game," "They killed a player, how will he recover from this? - "In England, there is no such thing as a player being 'killed' by everyone. People appreciate it when we play badly and lose, but I give people respect, and people thank me," said Mykolenko.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Mykolenko joined Everton on 1 January 2022. In England, he managed to play 51 matches in all tournaments.

Vitaliy scored his first and only goal in the Premier League in May in an away match of the 36th round of the English Premier League against Leicester. This shot was eventually recognised as the best of the season.
