Forever 28... Ukrainian world champion and multiple champion of Ukraine in kickboxing died in the war with the Russian invaders

Honored Master of Sports in WAKO kickboxing Roman Holovatiuk was killed at the front, the press service of the Sports Committee of Ukraine reports. The 28-year-old World Games finalist volunteered to serve after the start of the full-scale invasion. He was a junior sergeant.

Roman was born in the village of Krasnostavtsi, Khmelnytskyi region. In 2012, he entered the Podil State Agricultural and Technical University. In 2014, he started training in the kickboxing section. He was considered one of the best kickboxing athletes in WAKO.

"Loudly declared himself throughout Ukraine and beyond at the age of 22 when he won a medal at the X World Games in Poland. And after that, he continued his outstanding sports career," the obituary reads.

In 2019, Holovatiuk became a world champion in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in the K-1 division. In the summer of 2017, he took 3rd place at the World Games in Wroclaw, but later won silver when his opponent failed a doping test.

Roman was also a two-time winner of the World and European Cups and a multiple champion of Ukraine.
