Brazil failed to reach the World Cup playoffs

The Brazilian women's national soccer team sensationally failed to get out of the World Cup group. "Seleção" for the first time in 28 years have found themselves outside the playoffs of the world championship.

This became known by the results of the matches of the third round of the competition, which these days are held in Australia and New Zealand. Brazilian women got into the quartet along with teams of Panama, Jamaica and France. In the first meeting Latin American women led by the legendary Marta smashed Panama - 4:0.

On the second match day, the Seleçaos lost to the French women 1:2. In the final game, the wards of Swedish coach Pia Mariana Sundhage needed to beat Jamaica. The Brazilians had a total advantage - they hit the opponents' goal with 17 shots (8 on goal) against four (0).

However, the Latin American women did not use their chances and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. Thus, the team from South America scored four points and finished in third place in the group. The last time such a failure with Brazil happened at the Mundial-95 in Sweden, when it was the last in the quartet with the hosts of the championship, the Japanese and Germans.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ukrainian referee Kateryna Monzul was part of a historic innovation at the Women's World Cup.
