Father of Ukrainian football player turns out to be head of scandalous territorial center for recruitment - media

The military is suspected of corruption schemes

On November 6, a corruption scheme involving the heads of a territorial center for recruitment was exposed in Zakarpattia. According to the SSU, the head of the district recruitment center and the deputy commander of the terrorist defense helped those who evaded mobilization for bribes. The cost of such a service was from 4 thousand dollars. Both suspects were detained and face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to Suspilne, one of the defendants in the case is the head of the Uzhhorod RTCR, Ihor Tyshchuk. He is the father of Pavlo Tyshchuk, a 27-year-old striker for the Mynai football club.

Pavlo started playing football since childhood, training at the academies of Hoverla, Skela, and Donetsk's Olimpik. He made his professional debut only at the age of 22, playing for the Czech club Stara Ryshe.

"Minay is the most established club in Pavlo Tyshchuk's career. He moved there in early 2024 and played in the UPL for the first time. However, during the year, he did not score a goal and most often remained in reserve, spending an average of 20 minutes on the field in First League matches.

At the same time, the player has not yet had any effective actions in his entire sports career, being a member of the Uzhhorod team since February 2024.

Ihor Tyshchuk has held positions in the district military commissariats of Zakarpattia since 2015 and has repeatedly been at the center of high-profile scandals. In November 2023, Tyshchuk-led staff mobilized a bus driver right from his hotel room, where he was staying with a children's team from Vinnytsia. At the time, Tyshchuk said that he considered the actions of his subordinates "correct."

Another incident occurred in December of the same year at the Kosyno Thermal Waters Wellness Center. There, employees of the TCR raided the center, forced visitors to go outside, and took several men to an unknown location. The center's lawyer claimed that Ihor Tyshchuk had inflicted bodily harm on him and taken his phone when he tried to record what was happening on video.

This year, a new scandal erupted: employees of the Uzhhorod TCR allegedly beat a veteran who came to the institution and tried to use the phone.

Later, the victim said that Tyshchuk asked him not to go to the police, but the man filed a complaint anyway. The TCR itself issued a denial, accusing the veteran of provocation and insulting the military.

A few days before the SSU exposure, Ihor Tyshchuk submitted his resignation amid searches at the institution. In his declaration, the former head of the territorial center for recruitment listed significant assets, including real estate in Uzhhorod, four cars, and $40,000 in cash. He had not been previously linked to corruption schemes, but the recent allegations cast doubt on his reputation and performance in office.
