Tsurenko defeated Bogdan.

The famous Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko for the first time in her career made it to the 1/8 finals of the British Open - Wimbledon. Our compatriot achieved this right thanks to the victory in more than 3.5 hours thriller over Ana Bogdan from Romania.

The 34-year-old from Kyiv needed all three sets to reach the fourth round - 4:6, 6:3, 7:6. In the final game, Tsurenko had a match point at 6:5, but Bogdan was able to take the match to a tiebreak, in which the tennis players played 38 draws.

In the end with a fantastic score 20:18 Lesya was stronger. Throughout the match she had nine of 18 break points and won 28 active games. She had seven doubles and 60 unnecessary errors.

The winner of the pair Jessica Pegula (USA) - Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) will compete for a ticket to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon-2023. The American is the clear favorite to win the duel, being seeded number four at the tournament. The only meeting between Tsurenko and Pegula ended with the triumph of the Ukrainian in Indian Wales.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Spanish tennis player Paula Badoza refused to continue her match with Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk at Wimbledon-2023.
