Former world heavyweight champion Denis Lebedev spoke out about the disqualification of Russian figure skater Kamila Valiyeva and became a laughingstock online. The famous boxer praised the position of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and admired the Russian authorities' stance on the issue.

"I fully support Peskov's statement: the situation is unprecedented, they mixed sports and politics. I am glad that our government is not revising either the prize money or the results of those Games - for us, they remain the same. The rest is up to God, the Lord is the judge of all," R-Sport quoted Lebedev as saying.

Fans on the Internet responded by dubbing the boxer "beaten".

"I don't know who, in his opinion, mixed what. But he definitely has something mixed in his head," "Knocked out is more accurate. Well, or beaten. You can choose", "Where is the policy in the fact that an illegal drug was found? At least keep quiet if his head is broken," users write.

Lebedev and his performances with the vest of the Airborne Forces, where he never served, were recalled.

Fans criticize the boxer for saying such things solely because he wants to continue receiving funding from the government.

As we reported, in late January, CAS disqualified Valiyeva for four years for violating anti-doping rules.

In addition, the Russian figure skating team was deprived of gold medals at the 2022 Olympic Games in team competitions.
