Legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic became the winner of the US Open-2023 in men's singles. In the final match of the tournament, which took place on the courts of New York, the 36-year-old Serbian defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in three games - 6:3, 7:6, 6:3.

The athletes spent 3 hours and 16 minutes on court. During this time, Djokovic served four times, realized three of six break points and won 38 active games. The Serb recorded four double faults and 35 unforced errors. Novak surpassed the tennis player from the aggressor country in all indicators except for eis and percentage of the ball hitting the court on the first serve.

For Djokovic, the triumph in the United States was his 24th Grand Slam and fourth at the US Open. He increased his lead over Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who has 22 Grand Slam wins to his name. This season Novak failed to win only the Wimbledon British Open, in the final of which he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.

After this victory, Novak returned to the first line of the world ranking, ahead of the same Alcaraz. Recall, in the women's singles at the US Open-2023, 19-year-old Corey Gauff won, who defeated Aryna Sobolenko of Belarus.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the victory of Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina over Russian representative Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (5:7, 6:4, 6:4) in the 1/32 finals of the US Open caused mixed feelings among Russian fans.
