Defeated OI champion: Bilodid won bronze at prestigious Masters tournament
Ukrainian judoka Darya Bilodid won a bronze medal at the Masters Series tournament, which is held these days in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The 22-year-old from Kiev became the third in the weight category up to 57 kilograms.
Already in the first round, the Ukrainian passed the test in the person of the Olympic champion of Rio de Janeiro-2016 Rafaela Silva. Our compatriot was stronger than the Brazilian in overtime.
In the next round, Dasha defeated British World Cup medalist Nekoda Smith-Davies with a spectacular throw. In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian lost to OI-2020 silver medalist Sari Leonie Cizik of France, but kept her chances for bronze after winning by hold in a heartening fight against Italian Junior World Champion Veronica Toniolo.
In the medal duel Daria faced Paulina Starke from Germany. The Ukrainian dominated during the whole fight, and in the extra time she performed a hippon hold. It brought her the victory and the medal.
