Canadian defenseman Jeremy Roy of the Vityaz hockey club from Balashikha, Moscow Region, scored a spectacular boxing shot in a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) match against CSKA. The 26-year-old Quebec native knocked out CSKA's Russian forward Sergei Plotnikov.
At the end of the first quarter, with CSKA leading 2-0, the Russian attacked the Canadian, hitting him with a stick, and a fight broke out on the ice. Roy managed to knock his opponent's helmet off and landed several quality punches to his face.
After the 16th number of the capital's team lost his balance and fell, the judges immediately stopped the impromptu boxing match. As a result, Plotnikov received a 7-minute penalty (5 minutes for fighting and 2 minutes for hitting with a stick), while Roy received 5 minutes for fighting.
Vityaz failed to take the man advantage, scoring their first and only goal in the 30th minute. The match ended with a score of 4-1.
