Vasiliev criticizes athletes

Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilyev has spoken disparagingly about Russian athletes who will compete in the 2024 Olympics in neutral status. The former biathlete accused them of betrayal and indifference to the position of the leadership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

Vasilyev said this in an interview with the propaganda outlet Sport-Express. The winner of the Sarajevo-84 and Calgary-88 Games also spoke with traditional Russian aggression about Western countries that allegedly provoke various conflicts in the world.

"I will not watch the Olympics. I'm not interested in watching the athletes who went against the general idea of the ROC. It's not easy for the country, and they ignored the opinion of the Olympic Committee. We need to raise patriotism among young people. They have become very detached from their country, and globalization is to blame. We don't need anything Western. Especially if the West is not peaceful. If they hate us there and are trying to harm us, then why communicate with them?" Vasilyev said.
