"We are sincerely grateful to the EU and its member states for confirming in this way their unity in support of Ukraine," Zelensky said, emphasizing the need to allocate a new, eighth tranche of €500 million under the European Peace Facility (EPF) to support the Armed Forces.
The guarantor also emphasized the need to create a special €20 billion Assistance Fund for Ukraine under the EPF to provide sustainable support for Ukraine's defense needs for 2024-2027.
"Ukraine is counting on a positive assessment from the European Commission as part of the enlargement package and a decision by the European Council to launch negotiations on our country's accession to the EU by the end of this year," the leader of the country added.
The meeting emphasized the need for all EU member states to approve the European Commission's initiative to launch the Ukraine Facility, which provides for the allocation of EUR 50 billion to our country over the next four years.
The parties have also discussed the necessity of prompt adoption of the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia and its key priorities.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine counts on the European Commission's positive assessment of the enlargement package and the European Council's decision to launch negotiations on our country's accession to the EU by the end of this year.
In conclusion, Zelensky expressed gratitude for the EU's active participation in the implementation of all points of the Ukrainian peace formula.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Borrell is confident that the United States will continue to support Ukraine. He believes that the US budget will be revised, despite the fact that lawmakers in Washington refused to accept a funding package for Kyiv to avoid a government shutdown.
The day before, Borrell announced long-term security commitments for our country. He emphasized that Western partners are already working on this.
