Zelensky and Macron called on Russia to immediately withdraw troops from Ukraine and discussed increasing pressure on the Kremlin
During a visit to Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron once again condemned Russia's prolonged military aggression and called on the occupiers to withdraw troops from Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. The heads of state also stressed the need to increase pressure on the Kremlin by tightening sanctions against the aggressor country.
For its part, France assured that it will continue to provide military and other comprehensive assistance to Ukraine to fight against the Russian occupying forces. This is stated in the joint declaration of Ukraine and France, according to the press service of the Office of the President.
France and Ukraine separately call on Russia to withdraw immediately, completely and unconditionally from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the irresponsible seizure and militarization of which by the Russian armed forces poses a serious threat.
President Macron stated that his country remains unwavering in its commitment to Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. France also commends the determination and courage of the Ukrainian people and Armed Forces and recognizes their significant contribution to the security of the European continent and beyond.
During the talks, Zelensky and Macron discussed the need to increase collective pressure on the Russian aggressor country through further sanctions to weaken the occupiers' ability to continue their aggression. They also raised the issue of the effectiveness of implementing sanctions against Russia, in particular preventing and countering the circumvention of sanctions in and by third countries.
Ukraine and France agreed to continue working with other countries to develop mechanisms to compensate for the losses, destruction and damage caused by Russian aggression.
We recall that French President Emmanuel Macron, after talks with Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, said that the country is preparing new supplies of equipment for the AFU . In the near future France will equip several battalions of the Ukrainian army with dozens of armored vehicles, including light wheeled tanks AMX-10RC.
Earlier, Macron said that Russia "geopolitically lost" the war against Ukraine and is now turning into a vassal state of China . Russia has also lost control in the Baltic Sea because of its aggressive actions.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Zelensky said that there is no real reason why Ukraine has not yet become a member of NATO. He said that the Ukrainian soldiers who bravely and heroically fight on the battlefield against the Russian occupiers, defending the common interests of Europe, should be on a par with the military of the Alliance.
