Macron to visit Kyiv and sign bilateral security agreement with Ukraine in February
French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Ukraine in February. The exact date is not yet known. In Kyiv, he will sign a bilateral agreement on security guarantees similar to the one Ukraine has signed with the United Kingdom.
Macron made the statement on Tuesday, January 16, during a press conference at the Elysee Palace, L'Express reports. According to him, France is now "in the process of finalizing a security agreement" with Ukraine.
Macron also announced new military aid for our country. In particular, Ukraine will receive 40 more SCALP EG long-range missiles and "hundreds of bombs". They will be delivered in the coming weeks.
The politician added that France and the European Union will have to "make new decisions in the coming weeks and months" in order to prevent Russia from winning.
