In 2024, Ukraine planned to start production of an inexpensive Japanese pickup truck. New information about the vehicle has emerged that clarifies some of the processes of cooperation with Japanese partners.

According to the "Ukravtoprom" organization, Ukraine will indeed start producing Japanese pickups using the large-node assembly method. In the future, they plan to switch to small-node production.

It is reported that this is a joint project of a Japanese company and several Ukrainian enterprises. However, it is likely that the process will not be organized in 2024.

There is also no exact information about what kind of car they mean. Among the inexpensive models of Japanese pickups are the Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi L200, and Toyota Hilux.

There were reports about the assembly of the Isuzu D-Max in Ukraine as early as 2023. Production was expected to start at the "Ataman" bus plant in Cherkasy. The minimum price of the Isuzu D-Max in other markets is $17,000.
