What is the real range of electric cars: 10 best models

Experts from the German automobile club ADAC have found out how far electric cars can actually travel in the real world. The study identified the best cars in terms of range.

The results of the study were published on the organization's website. German experts recorded the maximum range of each tested electric car. OBOZ.UA compared the data obtained with the figures promised by manufacturers.

The real range of electric cars:

  1. BMW iX xDrive 50 (105.2 kWh battery) - 610 km (vs. declared 650 km);
  2. Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ (107.8 kWh battery) - 575 km (vs. declared 563 km);
  3. Hyundai Ioniq 6 (77.4 kWh battery) - 555 km (vs. declared 614 km);
  4. BMW i7 xDrive 60 (101.7 kWh battery) - 545 km (vs. declared 510 km);
  5. Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ (90.6 kWh battery) - 530 km (vs. declared 590 km);
  6. Mercedes EQS 580 4Matic (108.4 kWh battery) - 530 km (vs. declared 505 km);
  7. BMW i4 eDrive40 (83.9 kWh battery) - 490 km (vs. declared 590 km);
  8. Nio ET7 (90 kWh battery) - 485 km (vs. declared 700 km);
  9. Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended Range (88 kWh battery) - 480 km (vs. declared 502 km);
  10. Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor (78 kWh battery) - 480 km (vs. declared 420 km).
BMW iX.

The BMW iX crossover took first place in terms of absolute performance, covering 610 km. At the same time, the manufacturer claimed 650 km, which was about 6% lower.

The leader in terms of the difference in the top ten can be called Polestar 2. Its real mileage was more than 14% higher than the declared one.

The main flop was predictably a Chinese electric car, the Nio ET7. Its result is 30% lower than the official one.
