In the Soviet Union, shortages were a widespread phenomenon, affecting almost all areas of life, including food. Still, a number of people with money, connections, and influence could afford quality and tasty food that was unavailable to the majority.

Hard cheese
Most cheeses in the USSR were available to everyone, but it was not a high quality product, rather just a cheese one. Thus, you could mostly buy only processed cheeses in stores.
Sometimes you could find such cheeses as Parmesan, Camembert, or cheddar on the shelves. However, it was believed that such cheeses were available only to officials and influential people.
Seafood delicacies
Seafood in the USSR was practically unavailable to an ordinary person. Only a select few could afford it, who bought shrimp, oysters, and even sea urchins.
Alcohol
The quality of alcohol in the USSR was extremely low, so it was very cheap. It was mostly beer and vodka, which could be found in any store. You could also buy cognac and champagne, but their quality was just as low.
Most Soviet citizens had never even heard of such drinks as liqueur, tequila, or whiskey.
