The worst car brands: the latest rating of 2024
Choosing and buying a new or used car can be a daunting task. It's a big commitment, as you need to do thorough research, read owner reviews, and compare different models.
To speed up the process, Consumer Reports has compiled an annual ranking of car brands. Read on to find out which cars were outsiders in 2024
The rating compared 34 automakers. It takes into account road test results, reliability, safety performance, and feedback from owners.
The leader among competitors was the BMW brand, which received 82 points, as well as Subaru and Porsche, which received 80 points each.
And on the last steps of the rating were:
Rivian - 55 points
Rivian is a new company in California that manufactures electric vehicles at a plant in Illinois. Despite the fact that the brand positions itself as reliable, drivers have a different opinion.
GMC - 53 points
GMC cars are essentially converted from Chevrolet SUVs and trucks. They don't stand out from the competition in terms of equipment. And the brand's reliability scores are low, as many of its models have adopted Chevrolet's shortcomings.
Jaguar - 52 points
Jaguar is considered an iconic British brand, but experts note that infotainment systems are generally not up-to-date.
Land Rover - 50 points
Despite the wide range of models that Land Rover offers for any road use, most owners said they would not buy a Land Rover again if they had the opportunity.
Jeep - 46 points
Despite their long history, Jeeps lag far behind their competitors in fuel economy, comfort, and reliability.
