The performer of one of the most disgusting characters in the history of cinema is ready to stun the audience again. What is known about the series "Those Who Die"
The British actor Ivan Rheon is known for his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones, which made a huge impression on the audience. Moreover, users consider the character to be one of the most hated fictional villains in the history of cinema. However, the star is not ashamed to play the antagonist, announcing his work in a new project.
Rheon has become part of the new bloodthirsty world of the show "Those Who Die", which will take moviegoers to the era of Ancient Rome. Despite the manipulative behavior of his character Tenax, who runs a lucrative gambling company, putting the lives of gladiators on the line, the British actor insists that he is not a parody of Ramsay Bolton, Metro writes.
"There's an ambition and a brutality that they both probably share, but they come from very, very different places," the 39-year-old explained. "Tenax does it because he likes it – he's angry and he likes to hurt.
According to The Guardian, "Those About to Die" is a grandiose attempt to repeat the success of the cult "Game of Thrones". In English, the title of the series is "Those About to Die", which refers to the traditional greeting "Ave, Caesar, morituri te salutant" (Latin for "Hello, Caesar, those doomed to die greet you). Gladiators used to address emperors with these words before entering the arena. At the same time, the players raised their right hands in greeting.
The new drama will allow you to plunge into the atmosphere of Rome in the first century AD. It focuses on two storylines: the first tells the story of horsemen trying to gain fame in the gladiatorial arena, and the second is about a woman who came to the city to save her three children from slavery.
The role of Emperor Vespasian went to Anthony Hopkins, whose character is ill and wants to pass the throne to one of his two sons. The aforementioned bookmaker Tenax, meanwhile, is looking for a gift of fate that will secure his place in the elite of society.
Sports are the main source of entertainment in the city. Chariot races and betting take up a surprisingly large amount of screen time. The rest of the time, Romans watch gladiatorial fights.
