SpaceX has sent a tourist flight to the ISS

SpaceX has successfully launched the Crew Dragon spacecraft with a crew of tourists to the International Space Station as part of the latest commercial mission of the Texas startup Axiom Space. Four men, including the first Turkish astronaut, became crew members of the spacecraft.

This was reported by Reuters. The mission was launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral using a Falcon 9 rocket.

Axiom-3 mission plans include the crew staying aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for about 14 days in microgravity.

During this period, the astronauts plan to conduct more than 30 scientific experiments, many of which are aimed at studying the impact of spaceflight on human health and disease development.

This mission is the third such flight organized by Axiom in the last two years as part of their business of transporting astronauts to Earth orbit, sponsored by foreign governments and private enterprises.

For each astronaut seat, the company charges at least $55 million from its customers. The crew consists of the ship's commander, former NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria, Colonel Walter Villadei from the Italian Air Force, Swedish citizen Marcus Wandt, and Turkish Air Force pilot Alper Gezeravci, who will be the first astronaut in Turkish history.

Earlier it was reported that in August 2023, a SpaceX spacecraft with four crew members on board successfully docked with the International Space Station. This happened as part of a joint operation with NASA.
