"I've never seen anything like it": a mysterious animal in a West Virginia park has baffled locals. Photos and video
An American woman spotted a mysterious creature in a park in West Virginia that she had "never seen before." She managed to shoot a video of the mysterious animal.
Not realizing what kind of creature was in her camera lens, Brittany Keller showed the footage to passersby. However, the video confused the locals, writes NewYorkPost.
Brittany Keller said she was on her way to work when she noticed an unusual animal with dark fur and a long, curved tail near a group of deer in Ritter Park in Huntington. "When I stopped to take a closer look, I realized I had never seen anything like it before," the American said.
When Brittany showed the locals the footage, they were confused by what they saw. "Oh my God! What is this?" passersby exclaimed.
Keller published the video on her social media pages, and many readers expressed various variants of the strange creature – from a lemur to a lion cub, the DailyMail writes.
However, scientist Andy Mackey of the Zoology Zone Science Center refuted these theories, saying that lemurs do not live in West Virginia, but about 14,500 kilometers away in Madagascar.
"Lemurs are from Madagascar, so it would be very, very strange for a lemur to be in this area. Unless it's someone's pet," Mackey said.
"It looks more like a fox with scabies or another type of disease," the expert added.
According to scientists, mange is an infectious disease in animals that leads to hair loss. Therefore, this may explain the strange appearance of the animal.
