How not to overeat on New Year's holidays and not gain weight: tips from an expert
Christmas and New Year's are holidays where people have fun, relax and eat a lot. Festive tables are full of a variety of dishes, the sight of which makes you want to try each one.
Nutritionist Dominic Ludwig shared with Mirror his tips on how to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays without overeating. Thanks to them, entertainment will be successful and will not have negative health consequences.
He claims that you can eat any food during the holidays and not gain weight. A sensible diet prevents blood sugar from fluctuating. The absence of sugar fluctuations will help you maintain a good mood and energy throughout the day. To do this, choose foods high in fiber and lean proteins. Tangerines, walnuts, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, turkey, and dates are the foods that will help with sugar levels.
The expert also advises to ignore ready-made holiday products sold in supermarkets. They always have beautiful packaging that practically forces visitors to buy them. However, such products are usually unhealthy, because their composition is full of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients that will only harm the figure. After tasting such products, a person may begin to feel tired, lose strength, and experience a significant deterioration in mood.
In addition, even during the holidays, you should follow the basic principles of healthy eating, namely:
- Portion proportionality
- Eating protein
- Eating sweets only after the main meal
- Not ignoring meals
- Drinking enough fluids
