The fight ended in the 5th round

Former WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev (31-2, 24 KOs) beat 2-meter tall Dane Cam Jungquist (18-1, 11 KOs). The main fight at the IBA Night of Champions tournament in Yerevan ended early.

Both fighters started the bout rather inexpressively, not really investing in strikes. The fight, which was more like a sparring match, was held with a slight advantage of the giant from Denmark.

The denouement came in the 5th round, when the Russian Armenian went to work. Working with a jab, Gassiev pinned his opponent against the ropes, punched him several times to the body with precision, and then accentuated a left hook to the liver.

The Dane fell down, refusing to get up and continue the fight.

In his professional career, Gassiev has won 31 times with two losses. The 34-year-old Jungqvist had 18 wins, and this defeat was his first. The Danish boxer previously held the IBF International heavyweight title.

Last October, Gassiev suffered a sensational defeat against Swede Otto Wallin (26-1-0-1, 14 KOs) at a boxing night in Belek, Turkey. The 29-year-old boxer lost by a split decision over 12 rounds - 113:115, 113:115, 117:111.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on March 2, Murat Gassiev received Armenian citizenship. The native of Vladikavkaz fought with Oleksandr Usyk in 2018. Then the Ukrainian won the World Boxing Super Series final in the first heavyweight division, took four major belts and the Cup named after his idol, Muhammad Ali.
