Come home at 5:30 p.m.: scientists have discovered the formula for the perfect evening
Scientists have come up with a formula for a perfect winter evening. In their opinion, it is best to return home at 5:30 p.m., settle down on the couch at 6:42 p.m., and take a shower for 19 minutes.
The study involved 2000 people. The results show that the majority of respondents prefer to spend the evening alone at home rather than going out, and two-thirds actively cancel plans to spend time alone, MailOnline reports.
According to the researchers, the ideal shower or bath lasts an average of 19 minutes, and changing into comfortable home clothes and preparing drinks are among the first things you should do before settling down on the couch to relax.
As the clocks have gone back, 22 percent said they now want to stay at home more, and 35 percent said they feel the need for self-care.
When asked about the main reasons why they want to spend time at home, 66 percent said it's more comfortable, 53 percent said it's more "relaxing" than going out, and 48 percent said they enjoy the opportunity to get some rest. At the same time, 55 percent said that they do not want to go out alone and do not really expect guests.
45 percent of respondents voted for an ideal evening at home with their family, while 24 percent said they would choose to be home alone, and another 9 percent said they just want to be with their pets.
Among the favorite things to do at home in the evening, survey participants named reading a good book, watching a classic movie, and ordering food with delivery. The study also showed that almost a third of people choose candles and calm music.
"As we move from summer to the colder months, it seems that many Britons are looking to slow down and be gentler with themselves," commented Cleo Hector, marketing manager of the company that conducted the survey.
