Marigolds are considered one of the main decorations of flower beds and front gardens - they bloom long and brightly and require almost no maintenance. The plant is also loved by gardeners who use it to protect their crops from pests and fungal diseases.

The "Na Pensioni" publication told about the benefits of marigolds in the garden. At the same time, it explained where these flowers should not be planted so as not to harm the harvest.

Why marigolds are planted in the garden

The characteristic aroma of these flowers has a protective effect on other plants. The fragrance contains phytoncides that drive pests away from the flowers themselves. They also have the same effect on neighboring plants.

The bright petals also attract pollinating insects. In this way, they help, for example, to increase the yield of cucumbers, which depend on bees and butterflies. At the same time, they drive away aphids. Roses, which suffer from powdery mildew and black spot, get the protection they need from this neighborhood. In addition, marigolds enrich the soil for them. This flowering barrier protects onions from onion flies, and at the same time makes the taste of the vegetable milder.

Where the neighborhood with marigolds is undesirable

On the one hand, the flower is able to protect cabbage from white-winged butterflies, the cabbage butterfly. On the other hand, it inhibits the growth of heads of cabbage. Therefore, it is better to use other methods of protection on such a bed.

This limitation applies to all types of cabbage. But not only them. The proximity of marigolds to radishes, radishes, turnips, and legumes such as peas, beans, and soybeans can negatively affect yields.
