Why you shouldn't give a candle as a gift: you should be extremely careful
Candles are an indispensable item in Ukrainian homes. During the war, when Russian missiles and drones are shelling energy infrastructure, daily blackouts have become almost commonplace.
That's why candles have moved into the category of universal gifts that will always come in handy. A huge selection of candles is available in any supermarket: from ordinary paraffin candles to scented decorative ones. There is a popular belief that it is better not to give candles as gifts. OBOZREVATEL has analyzed the essence of superstition.
Is it possible to give candles
According to ancient superstition, a candle is a very dangerous gift. You can't accept a candle, even if it is given by a relative or close friend. The most fatal warnings say that a candle given as a gift can have a very negative impact on a person's health, even leading to death.
Perhaps this is because a candle has long been the main indispensable attribute for various rituals and ceremonies.
Our ancestors believed that a purchased or handmade candle absorbs the energy of the person who is going to give it to them. But the energy is exclusively negative. Bad consequences can affect not only the person being gifted but also his or her family and friends.
The exception is candles bought in church. Such a gift will not carry anything evil, and grief will not happen, according to the belief.
If you are not too superstitious and still accept a candle as a gift, experts advise you to "test" it. If the flame burns high and bright, the candle does not carry bad energy. If the flame trembles or flickers, the candle should be thrown away.
There is a win-win option - buy a battery-powered LED candle. It will bring light and coziness to the house and will definitely not carry any energy or negativity.
