Which appliances consume more electricity in standby mode: you will be surprised
Most owners are unpleasantly surprised by their electricity bills. The large amounts raise many questions because we believe that we are not capable of using as much light as indicated in the bill.
Unfortunately, not everyone knows that the appliances we are used to, which at first glance do not consume much electricity, have a significant impact on our wallet. OBOZ.UA has compiled a list of household appliances that need to be unplugged in time to reduce costs.
Kitchen appliances
The microwave oven is one of the largest energy consumers. It consumes about four watts when not in use.
A coffee maker, when plugged in, consumes 0.5 watts. All appliances that have LED backlighting or a screen that is constantly on will consume more electricity.
TV
When the TV is turned off but plugged in, it is in standby mode, so it is still consuming electricity. It's best to turn off your TV when you're not using it or when you're planning to travel for a few days.
Game consoles
Game consoles are known for their ability to consume a lot of electricity in standby mode. That's because when they are turned off, they still continue to search for software updates, voice commands, or remote controls.
It is better to unplug it or select "power saving mode" in the settings.
Computer
PC monitors consume the same amount of power as TVs in standby mode, usually no more than 0.5 watts.
Cell phones and chargers
If you leave your phone charging after the battery is fully charged, you will consume more electricity. This is because the charger will continue to use the same amount of electricity as when the battery is low.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA shared why you shouldn't talk on the phone while it's charging and how it can affect the device.
