What unusual things to cook for dinner: an idea from a famous Ukrainian chef
We usually try not to spend a lot of time cooking dinner. Nevertheless, this is often the meal that brings the whole family together on a weekday, so we really want to serve some unusual main dish.
A recipe for just such a side dish was recently shared on Instagram by Ukrainian celebrity chef Vitalii Huralevych. He explained how to make a delicious side dish out of simple garlic that will go with any meat dish. The chef also showed a recipe for a delicious barbecue sauce.

Ingredients for mashed potatoes
- Potatoes
- Garlic
- Butter
- Cream
- Salt
- Pepper
Ingredients for the sauce
- Ketchup
- Soy sauce
- Honey
- Apple cider vinegar
- Smoked paprika
Method of preparation
1. Prepare the mashed potatoes. Bake the garlic head at 180°C until soft (about 30 minutes).

2. Boil the potatoes until tender and drain.
3. Squeeze the baked garlic into the potatoes.
4. Add butter, cream, salt and pepper to taste.

5. Whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy.
6. Prepare the sauce. Mix ketchup, a little soy sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika in a frying pan.

7. Heat over low heat until the sauce thickens slightly.
8. Serve with mashed potatoes and any kind of meat dishes.
