Ukrainian wrestler Oksana Livach failed to win a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in the women's 50 kg freestyle wrestling. In the third place match, the 27-year-old native of Ivano-Frankivsk lost to reigning Olympic champion and four-time world champion Yui Susaki (0:10).

The Ukrainian immediately missed the "bottom", giving 2 points to her opponent. The Japanese tried to perform a rolling flip, but failed. Susaki acted as number one, dominating the mat.

Again, Oksana missed a pass to the feet, allowing her opponent to score points. By the end of the first period, the Ukrainian wrestler was losing 0:6.

In the second "half," the judges stopped the match, awarding the victory to the Japanese "by technical superiority."

It should be noted that Livach lost in the quarterfinals to India's Vinesh Phogat and had to play a consolation match against Susaki, and the winner of that match was to advance to the so-called small final.

But on the second day of the competition, Phogat did not meet the weight limit of 50 kg and was disqualified. Because of this, the organizers of the 2024 Olympic Games moved the grid and made the Livach-Susaki fight a medal match .

Oksana Livach was born in Dolyna (a town in the Kalush region). In 2013, she became a world cadet champion and a silver medalist at the European Cadet Championships. In 2014, she became the European cadet champion and silver medalist at the World Cadet Championships.

In 2015, she won bronze medals at the World and European Junior Championships. In 2016, she became the European junior champion and bronze medalist at the World Junior Championships, and in 2017 she repeated this result. In 2018, she won a bronze medal at the World Championships.

At the 2019 European Championships in Bucharest, she won a gold medal and became the European champion for the first time.

In February 2020, at the Continental Championships in Rome, in the 50 kg weight category, she lost to Bulgarian athlete Miglena Selishka in the fight for the championship title and won a silver medal. At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she took fifth place, losing in the small final.

In April 2023, she won a silver medal at the 2023 European Wrestling Championships.
