When planning a vacation or trip, people often choose warm countries. If you thought that the sunniest resorts are in Spain, Greece, or Italy, you are wrong.

Chile is the best place to travel for those who love warmth and sun. The Daily Mail published a research of scientists about this country.

Scientists have found that the Atacama Desert, located in the north of Chile, offers as much ultraviolet radiation as Venus.

The study, conducted at the University of Santiago, showed that the Llano de Chajnantor Observatory, an array of astronomical observatories located at an altitude of over 4,800 meters above sea level in the Atacama Desert, is the sunniest place on Earth as it is the most cloudless.

It hardly rains there, and the average temperature in summer is just above 4 degrees Celsius. This is influenced by the water flows of the Pacific Ocean coming from Antarctica.

According to scientists, no sunscreen can protect a person from burns here because the conditions are so extreme that they do not exist anywhere else on our planet.

"In fact, you'll get the same radiation in the summer in Atacama as you would on Venus," said study author Raul Cordero.

As there are almost no clouds over the desert, this allows the sun to focus intensely on the Earth's surface. Therefore, the observatory has the highest level of horizontal shortwave radiation in the world.

Clouds over other parts of the Earth are quite "thick" and they block most of the sunlight that is reflected back into space.

Scientists believe that Chajnantor may be the best place to locate solar power plants in the future, which will collect sunlight to generate electricity.

This area could even be used as a simulator of life on Venus in the future.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL published a study by scientists on global warming, which showed that some part of the Earth needs to be painted white to stop climate change.
