Safe homemade marshmallows for kids: the easiest recipe for a delicious dessert
All children and adults love sweets, but it's best to cook them yourself at home, as only in this way you can be sure of their safety. One such dessert is marshmallows.
A cook shared a recipe for safe homemade marshmallows prepared with applesauce, cherries, and agar-agar on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- 100 g of applesauce (you can take the one for babies)
- 100 g of cherries (thawed)
- 100 g of water
- 300 g of sugar
- 10 g of agar-agar
- 70 g of whites
- 70 g of sugar
- a pinch of salt
- 1/3 tsp of citric acid
- 2 tbsp of powdered sugar and 1 tbsp of starch for sprinkling
Method of preparation:
1. Prepare a bag with a nozzle and parchment.
2. Combine the cherries, applesauce and water in a saucepan and beat with a blender. Add sugar and agar-agar and bring to a boil. As soon as large bubbles appear on the surface, remove from heat.
3. Whisk the whites into a froth and then add a pinch of salt, half the sugar and citric acid, whisk for another 1 minute, add the remaining sugar and whip the meringue until stiff peaks form.
4. Stir the syrup so that the agar-agar does not settle on the walls of the saucepan. Cook the syrup at 104 degrees for exactly 7 minutes after boiling. As soon as the syrup is ready, turn off the heat, stir and add to the whipped egg whites. Beat them at high speed. Once all the syrup has been poured in, beat it for another 3 minutes.
5. Transfer the marshmallow mixture to a bag, squeeze the marshmallows and leave them in a dry place overnight.
Sprinkle the finished marshmallows with powdered sugar and starch and glue the halves together!
