Netflix series Kaos closed after the first season: what is it about
Kaos, a comedy series about Greek mythology that debuted on Netflix at the end of August this year, will not be renewed for a second season. Despite the star-studded cast, unique plot, and some popularity at the beginning of the show, the series failed to gain a sufficient audience.
According to the plot, Zeus, played by Jeff Goldblum, finds himself in the modern world and tries to maintain his status as an all-powerful god. However, his plans are hampered by other gods and people who want to change the existing order of things, Variety reports.
Despite the intriguing idea, the series received mixed reviews from critics. Many noted the originality of the approach to mythological plots, but at the same time noted that the series suffers from excessive plot complexity and not always logical construction.
After the premiere, Kaos did indeed make it to the top 10 most popular series on Netflix, but over time, interest in it quickly waned. Despite the fact that the series stayed on the charts for several weeks, the total number of views was not enough to continue.
The actors who took part in the filming of Kaos expressed their disappointment over the series' cancellation. In particular, Aurora Perrineau, who played the role of Eurydice, shared her emotions on Instagram, noting that working on the series was an unforgettable experience for her.
What is Kaos about:
Zeus has long had the status of the king of the gods. That is until he wakes up one morning and finds a wrinkle on his forehead. A neurosis sets in, leading him down a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus is convinced that his downfall is coming and begins to see signs of it everywhere.
Zeus's once reliable brother, Hades, the god of the underworld, is secretly losing control of his dark dominion. There is a mass of dead waiting to be handled and they are restless. Hera, the queen of the gods, exercises dominion on Earth - and over Zeus - in her own unique way. But her power and freedom are threatened by Zeus's growing paranoia, and she is forced to act while Zeus's rebellious son Dionysus spirals out of control.
On Earth, people yearn for change, but Poseidon is more concerned with the size of his superyacht and the location of his next party. The well-being of mere mortals is of little interest to him. Unfortunately for the gods, some of those mortals are beginning to realize this.
