Mercedes will not abandon its cheapest models
German Mercedes, known as a manufacturer of expensive cars, decided to revise its strategy in 2024 and focus on cheaper models to increase sales.
According to Motor1, in 2024, Mercedes planned to stop production of the A-Class. This is the company's basic and most affordable model. Currently, the life of the Mercedes A-Class has been extended until 2026.
The new strategy of the German automaker is aimed at higher sales. Even if it means selling less marginal affordable cars. Earlier, the company held a meeting in the United States with its American dealers, who were informed of the new sales plans.
Earlier, Mercedes developed a strategy to strengthen its presence in the prestigious segments with the S-Class, SL, and G-Class models, as well as the AMG and Maybach car lines. In addition, they planned to increase the production of electric vehicles, but this was also abandoned. Such cars cannot be sold in large numbers in a short time.
Now they decided to focus on cheaper models. The goal is to sell more than 300,000 cars in the US in 2024. By the way, dealers liked the new strategy. It is easier for them to sell such models regularly than to wait for a long time for a buyer for a car worth $100,000.
