"Jumped blindly": goalkeeper of Ukraine's national team names fatal mistakes at Euro 2024
Ukraine's goalkeeper Andriy Lunin called his mistakes in the opening match of the European Championship against Romania, in which the Blue and Yellows lost 0-3, fatal. The Real Madrid goalkeeper noted that he made a technical mistake in the moment of the first goal, and explained the second goal as a failure because he did not see the shot.
Lunin said this in an interview with Marca. The 25-year-old noted that his mistakes cost the team dearly as it failed to advance from the Euro 2024 group even after scoring the same number of points as all the opponents in the quartet.
"It is quite obvious that I made two mistakes. The first goal was a technical fault, a mistake that can happen to anyone. The second goal was a failure because I didn't see the moment of the shot, and then I lost sight of the ball because the defender wanted to block it. As a result, I jumped blindly and made a mistake. So after the game I apologized for my performance. I understand the difference between goalkeeper and striker mistakes. A goalkeeper's mistake is a 90% goal," Lunin said.
