How to quickly clean drains in the bathroom and kitchen: an effective way

A drain clog can occur in your home at any time - in the kitchen and bathroom. Solid particles such as food debris, hair, or dirt build up and can eventually start to block the flow of water.

Of course, you can unclog the drain with a strong chemical such as those sold in every supermarket. But these are quite toxic and unfriendly substances. However, according to Nancy Birtwistle, a contestant in the British Great British Bake Off, the problem can be solved without aggressive chemicals. She shared her secret on social media, Birmingham Live reports.

When baking, a certain amount of flour, fat, and other products get into the sink, and clogs occur regularly. To combat them, Birtwistle recommends using soda ash.

This substance is more powerful than baking soda. Even if you combine it with vinegar. It will even cope with stubborn fats, which the tandem of soda and vinegar can do little with.

So, to clean a clogged pipe, take 200 grams of soda ash and 200 ml of freshly boiled water. Remove any stagnant water from the sink, if any, and pour the soda ash down the drain. Then immediately fill it with fresh boiling water. This will be enough for most clogs.

If the problem is more serious, then follow a slightly different procedure. Pour half of the soda ash into the drain, pour in all the boiling water, and then add the rest of the soda on top. Close the pipe with a stopper and leave it for several hours. Ideally, overnight. The next day, remove the cork and flush the pipe with very hot water. It is advisable to use 2-3 liters.

This cleaning will not only help to clean the pipe. It also eliminates unpleasant odors that occur in clogged drains.
