Russian entertainer injured in China after fish attack
In the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of China, a giant fish attacked a Russian woman working as an entertainer in a park. It happened on January 28 in front of terrified children.
Maria, 22, empersonating a mermaid, was swimming in the aquarium in a bikini top and tail. Suddenly, a huge fish approached and grabbed her head with its mouth, reports the Daily Mail.
According to eyewitnesses, the audience screamed in horror. The struggle between the woman and the fish lasted for a few seconds. The Russian survived, but suffered wounds and bruises. The fish managed to eat her nose clips and glasses before she swam to the surface.
After the attack, the Russian woman was offered 700 yuan (about four thousand hryvnias) for moral damages, and superiors forbade her to comment on the incident. According to Maria, after the fish attack, her head, eye and neck hurt badly. Despite this, she was forced to return to the aquarium.
No information was disclosed about the species of the dish that attacked the entertainer. However, it is known that this freshwater aquarium features native species from the Mekong and Yangtze rivers, as well as other rare amphibians.
