Travel bloggers from Sweden, Dan Goz and Oskar Kappland, visited the Maldives, a dream vacation destination for many people. However, in their blog, they shared not-so-positive feedback about the trip.

The tourists decided to try a budget trip to the popular resort, spending 12 thousand dollars in 9 days, Metro reports. Dan and Oskar documented the vacation in a video on their TikTok page, where they warned travelers not to be fooled by the picturesque photos.

After spending so much money to soak up the sun on a white sand beach, the Swedes spent most of their trip indoors because of the pouring rain. Their trip was timed to celebrate their ninth wedding anniversary.

A couple visited two resorts and planned a lot of outdoor activities, but even though they went in December (the good season), the rain changed all their plans.

They spent the first four days of their vacation at a hotel in Dhigurah, a resort famous for diving and whale sharks. However, the tourists were deprived of an incredible opportunity due to bad weather. The second hotel offered visitors to take part in activities "under the roof". Dan and Oskar paid about $1,500 for a night there.

The bloggers admitted that they were outraged by the discrepancy between expectation and reality in the Maldives, adding that the weather there reminded them of their native Sweden for a week. "This is what we were trying to escape from!" Oskar explained.

Travelers urged followers not to believe photos on social media as they do not always reflect real life. "We've been using social media for years, people always see the best version on the internet, and it gives a false perspective of what the world is like," Dan shared.
