Truth stings: Russia disgraced itself with a fake translation of a famous TV series that "disguised" the crimes of the occupiers in Mariupol
Russian connoisseurs of high-quality foreign cinema, rather than domestic "slag," have once again been disgraced. The dubbing actors decided not to abandon the American TV series "The Morning Show" with actresses Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, but to "remake" it.
Thus, ignoring copyrights, moral principles and common sense, Russians stole the series from the Apple TV platform and translated it in their own way. In particular, a video has gone viral on the Internet, where pirate sites broadcast blatant propaganda about Azov in Mariupol (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).
In the fourth episode of the third season, the authors mentioned the bombing of a hospital. In the story, the media are preparing a story about the blockade, and an American photographer in the epicenter of the events is trying to convey to his colleagues what war crimes the Russians are committing there.
However, this truth is very painful for viewers in the Russian Federation, so the translators brazenly distorted the dialog between the main characters.
In the original, the photographer said that the occupiers were shooting at civilians on the streets of the city, but on pirate sites, the word "Russians" was replaced with "Azov" and "militants."
In addition to the fact that the Russian Federation cannot refuse a foreign product in favor of the much-vaunted "import substitution," viewers are also deliberately misled.
It should be added that due to the sanctions, Apple TV simply stopped releasing new TV series and movies with Russian dubbing, and the service stopped working in Russia in 2022. That is, Russians simply steal all new film projects and unofficially translate them as they wish.
Since this is not the first time that The Morning Show has raised the topic of the war in Ukraine, we can assume that this practice is not new in Russia.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote that for many years, Russian propaganda has been using the film industry to achieve its goals. To find out how it works and how much the Kremlin's henchmen in show business and the acting community are paid, follow the link.
