Lipstick shades that should be avoided by women over 40

Make-up looks incomplete without lipstick. It can turn basic makeup into evening makeup if you use a wine shade, or evening makeup into a more restrained one if you apply a nude tone. However, it's worth remembering that lipstick can add age and spoil the whole impression of your appearance.

OBOZREVATEL has figured out how lipstick colour affects age. According to cult make-up artists, lips become thinner with age and collagen production decreases. But there are several ways to make your lips look plump and juicy (scroll to the end of the page to see the photo).

The key to finding the perfect colour is knowing your skin tone. There are three types: warm, cold and neutral.

People with a warm undertone usually tan quickly and look better in gold jewellery. They have brown, hazel or amber eyes and chocolate, reddish or dark brown hair. If you recognise yourself, you should not paint your lips in a cold or nude colour. But you should also be careful with dark lipsticks, as they can visually reduce the lips.

People with a cold undertone burn easily and look better in silver jewellery. Most often, they have blond or black hair. The most common eye colour for those with a cold undertone is blue, grey or green. You need to avoid extreme lipstick colours - very light or dark. Make-up artists advise choosing plum, berry or natural pink shades.

Also, remember that a matte finish reduces the volume of the lips, while a creamy or shiny finish increases it.

Earlier OBOZREVATEL told about five makeup mistakes that visually age you. To make women 50+ look fresher, you should forget about a thick foundation, applying powder all over the face, and you should also buy a lip pencil to add expressiveness to your lips.
