Daily Mail reports on Mudryk's shocking move at Chelsea
Chelsea's American owner Todd Bowley is facing growing discontent from players who are seriously concerned about the club's direction. This week, Bowley was heavily criticised when it emerged that in his speech to the players after the defeat to Brighton, he called the club's season a disgrace. The incident of January 15, which was reported by The Daily Mail, also added fuel to the fire.
During his working visit, Bowley brought Chelsea newcomer Mykhailo Mudryk and his friends to the team's dressing room. Well-informed sources indicated that the visit took place before kick-off, when the team was preparing for the game.
Bowley wanted to introduce the team, then managed by Graham Potter, to Mudryk, who was introduced as a Chelsea player at Stamford Bridge that day. But along with Mudryk and Bowley, a number of other individuals believed to be part of the Ukrainian forward's entourage also gained access to the club's holy of holies.
The dressing room is regarded as a sacred place by Chelsea players, especially before the starting whistle, when all the players are getting ready for the match. There are strict rules about who is allowed to be in the room on match days and who is not. Players and staff were shocked when Bowley, Mudryk and a few others from the Ukrainian's entourage were allowed to enter the dressing room.
Having spent £600 million on new contracts in the previous two transfer windows, fans hoped that the new American regime would be able to replicate the success achieved under Abramovich.
But a poor season has left team members questioning their future at Stamford Bridge. This summer, Chelsea are set to make a major squad thinning to comply with financial Fair Play rules after spending heavily on new players since last summer.
Signings made under Bowley:
- Enzo Fernandez - £107m
- Mykhailo Mudryk - £88.5m
- Wesley Fofana - £75m
- Mark Cucurella - £60m
- Raheem Sterling - £47.5m

- Kalidou Koulibaly - £33m
- Noni Madueke - £29m
- Malo Vkuso - £26m
- Karni Chukwuemeka - £20m
- Andrew Santos - £18m
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - £10.3m
- Gabriel Slonina - £9m
- David Datro Fofana - £8m
- Joao Felix - loan for £ 9.7m
In addition to the players' fears about the future of the club, some members of the team fear that they will not have a chance to make the first team next season due to Chelsea's bloated squad.
The club is facing a complete absence of European competition next season, given their modest position in the Premier League, which means they will have even fewer opportunities to play.
After the Blues lost to Real Madrid on Tuesday night and were knocked out of the CL, the two-time winners lost the opportunity to play in European football's elite club competition in the 23/24 season through a direct ticket as winners.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Mykhailo Mudryk played a full match for the first time since January 15 until the game against Brighton on April 15. Prior to that, he started 5 times and appeared on the pitch 4 times as a substitute.
Until April 15, our compatriot had made only one effective action (an assist). In the match against Brighton, Mykhailo's assist was the Ukrainian's second goal in 11 games in the blue shirt of the London club.
