A palace with 10 dressing rooms and more: how Simonyan made millions by lying and why she won't go to the beach without heavy guards
Kremlin top propagandist Margarita Simonyan has made a huge fortune from lying. However, she is afraid to go to the beach alone because of the specifics of her job. It is known that the head of Russia Today has a luxurious mansion in the elite cottage village of Knyazh'ye Ozero (24 kilometers northwest of Moscow). She and her husband, director and TV host Tigran Keosayan, are also building another huge house in Sochi.
Simonyan was spotted on the beach in Adler (an inner-city district of Sochi) with six security guards on July 2023. The corresponding news appeared on one of the Russian Telegram channels. The "journalist" mocked the fact that two women among the guards were inflating her mattress.
Simonyan and Keosayan started the construction of an elite three-story villa with an elevator and 10 dressing rooms in Sochi in 2022.
It is being built on a garden plot belonging to the propagandist's husband in the Sutuginskoye tovarishchestvo on Zvezdnaya Street. This is a prestigious Khostinsky district of Sochi. It is only 3 kilometers from the federal highway and the sea. It is a cottage village with houses that cost an average of 50 to 90 million rubles.
The cost of the villa of RT's chief editor was estimated by the Russian media at 300 million rubles. "A palace in miniature," one of the publications wrote.
Interestingly, the area of the house did not fit into the city planning regulations. According to the law, you can build a house of no more than 300 square meters, but the Russian woman's mansion is more than three times the allowable area. It is 1032.8 square meters, 300 of which are for terraces.
They found a way around the rules quite easily. The Simonyan and Keosayan family was officially allowed to violate the norms by holding "public discussions".
The city administration website announced this procedure. It said that a large house is needed "due to the established way of life of the family, taking into account the satisfaction by family members of the household and other needs associated with living" in the explanatory note. In addition, it was said that this was the only way to ensure "optimal architectural solutions", for which it was also necessary to increase the area.
According to the plan of the cottage from the explanatory note to the application to the city administration, the first floor is planned to accommodate three children's rooms, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, laundry and as many as seven dressing rooms of 7-10 square meters each.
Two bedrooms, a guest room, a study, two more large dressing rooms, a gallery, two terraces and a bathroom areto be built on the second floor. A huge dining room (almost 100 square meters), a kitchen, a pantry and another dressing room are being designed for the third floor. The house will also have an elevator and a staff room.
Simonyan and Keosayan have a house of 350 square meters in the premium-class village Knyazh'ye Ozero near Moscow.
The propagandist does not like to show this suburban mansion to the general public. The media wrote that the ceiling height there is 2.9 meters and are decorated with vintage Italian chandeliers. There are also English wallpapers.
There is a living room and a kitchen-dining room on the first floor and an oak staircase, bedrooms and children's rooms on the second one. There is a garage for several cars, a pergola, a children's playground and a garden.
The network also has data that the editor-in-chief of the RT TV channel owns a plot of land on the bank of an artificial canal in the elite village of Millennium Park (it is also called Moscow region Venice).
As the journalists found out, Keosayan's daughter from his first marriage has real estate in elite districts of Moscow and Moscow suburbs. This is an apartment on Arbat (92 square meters), registered to her grandmother, as well as a more expensive mansion in Barvikha, the area of which is 500 square meters.
Keosayan's nephew has an apartment on Mosfilmovskaya (100 square meters).
According to media calculations, Simonyan's income in the past was more or less 250 million rubles a year. It is 21 million per moth, 5 million per week, 745 thousand per day and 30 thousand rubles per hour.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, one of the Russian Telegram-channels recently reported that " repressions" are being prepared in Moscow against a number of "information players" of the Russian Federation, including Margarita Simonyan. The documents were leaked after the failed mutiny of the PMC Wagner.
