Never put in the oven

  • Plastic and cookware with plastic elements. It melts and releases toxic substances when exposed to high temperatures.
  • Paper and cardboard. They can easily catch fire at high temperatures, except for corrugated cupcake tins. They are impregnated with a special substance and are approved for the oven.
  • Wood in the oven is not likely to catch fire, but it will darken and crack. Do not forget about the wooden parts on the molds.

Cookware that should be used with caution in the oven

  • Although aluminum cookware can withstand high temperatures, it releases toxic substances when it comes into contact with acid. Therefore, do not bake dishes with lemon, sour berries, or meat in an acidic marinade in aluminum cookware.
  • Enameled cookware should not be placed in a hot oven, otherwise the enamel may crack due to a sharp temperature difference. Enameled cookware should only be placed in a cold oven and then turned on. In addition, enamel should not be heated to temperatures above 250°.
  • Glass cookware should be handled with care. Just like enamel, glass should not be placed in a hot oven, otherwise cracks will form. Glassware is placed in a cold oven, and after baking, it is not removed immediately, but the door is opened and the material is allowed to cool slightly. Do not use such dishes if they have cracks of any size.
  • Multicooker bowls are conditionally suitable for baking, but they should only be used if you are in a pinch. Due to the thin bottom, food in it can burn. Do not heat the bowl above 200°.

Cookware suitable for baking in the oven

  • Non-stick stainless steel cookware is the most popular for baking in the oven. It is lightweight and heat-resistant. Steel is easily scratched, so it is better not to cut with a knife.
  • Cast iron - pans and pots are not afraid of even the highest temperatures. Such cookware heats up quickly and food cooks faster in it. The big disadvantage of cast iron products is their heavy weight.
  • Ceramic. Ceramic cookware retains heat well and heats up quickly. It cooks food evenly and retains its maximum benefits. The disadvantages of ceramic baking dishes are their high price and difficult maintenance. They need to be washed immediately after use.
  • Heat-resistant glass. Bakeware made of heat-resistant glass can be used in both oven and electric ovens. It can withstand high temperatures, is easy to clean and reacts with food. You can also observe the cooking process through the transparent glass.
  • Silicone. Silicone molds are mainly used for making desserts and biscuits. They can withstand temperatures up to 250°. Approximately 5 years after purchase, the material becomes toxic, so it needs to be replaced regularly.
  • Clay pots. This kind of cookware has long been used for cooking first and second courses. Porridges, soups and stews from a clay pot have a unique taste. All foods are well baked in clay pots, and even the toughest meat can be cooked in them.
  • Baking trays are usually sold with an oven, so they are definitely suitable for baking. They are usually made of a mixture of steel and aluminum. Thick-bottomed baking sheets are good for baking, pies, and pizza, while meat and fish are best baked on a wire rack.
  • The brazier is a deep, round frying pan with two handles designed specifically for baking. Thanks to its special shape, food is baked well and soaked in its own juice.
